Cherokee Federal is Hiring a Cost Estimator Near Baltimore, MD

Cost Estimator:

***This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance within 120 days after contract award. ***

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States.

The Cost Estimator prepares cost estimates for manufacturing projects, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Cost Estimator: $60,000 - $84,000
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.
  • Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Cost Estimator Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare cost estimates for manufacturing projects, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.
  • Analyze a variety of cost types, cost proposals and requirements to evaluate cost effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture a product, construct a building, or provide a service.
  • Create cost models to include time-phased budgets/spend plans and cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or production managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Train/guide junior cost estimators.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Cost Estimator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree, and three years of experience required, all three of those years of experience must be directly related to the DoD. Six years of additional work experience related to the applicable labor categories or an Associate's degree plus four years of additional work experience is suitable substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply engineering techniques, principles, and precedents to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, radio frequency, avionics, mechanical, communications, stores, armament, ordnance, or related data processing systems for military weapon systems or associated support equipment or components.
  • Read blueprints, sketches and specifications to plan and layout various projects.
  • Organize, direct and coordinate the planning and production of all contract and subcontract support activities.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other enterprise resource programs.
  • Ability to multi-task between concurrent work orders and projects on a daily basis.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy for compliant and complete reports, documentation, and data entry tasks.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must possess a SECRET clearance or be able to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
